Arduino Stepper Motor Shield

This shield is based on L6470 dSpin Motion Controller and it can drive two 1.5A steppers independent of each other. By stacking 2 shields together it can drive 4 motors. This sheld requires an external power supply of 12V DC or 24V DC (depending on the motors).

Main applications are robotics, small CNCs, 3D printers and many others. This shield is compatible with Arduino UNO, and is using the SPI interface for comunication. Two more IO s are used to signal the Error Flag and Busy Flag to the CPU.  When stacking two shields together the jumpers on the shield have to be set to accomodate this scenario.  The shied is not taking any power from the Arduino UNO board by using his own 5V regulator fitted on the PCB. A functional Arduino (V2.0) example project is available for download which demonstrates most of the features of the driver. Stepper motors will be available for this shield soon.

Software example for Arduino 2.0 and newer available in zip format available for download here - this new example has overcurent protection enabled, so the driver will stop on a evercurent flag. (flags can be reset by reading the status)
